Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
