A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The song features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from later in the month.
