Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
