Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
