The Academy Awards are set to start streaming exclusively on YouTube in 2029, marking the newest major change in Hollywood.
The organization behind the Oscars declared the decision on this week, confirming that it entered into a extended contract awarding YouTube the sole worldwide broadcasting rights to the Oscars up to 2033.
The awards show, set for 15 March, has been televised for five decades on ABC. Beginning in 2029, the ceremony will be available in real-time without charge on YouTube.
