The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Song

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series by the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new introductory sequence. It features our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple agonizing personal histories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was lost in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its inclusion.

But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and energy that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are accessible on Spotify and the video site.
