Police representatives stated that over 200 offences involving illegal car meets in the area have been handled in approximately 12 months.
Key figures from the enforcement effort comprise:
A police sergeant remarked: “Residents, motorists and our traffic officers have had enough with these crowds of drivers thoughtlessly taking over streets and car parks and we will not tolerate it.”
He added: “These events are not only a complete nuisance, but they also place themselves and innocent bystanders at danger of serious injury.”
He finished: “Our efforts will persist to prosecute these individuals and I hope these recent cases act as a warning: you will face consequences.”
